American lawyer and jurist. Second female to be appointed to the US Supreme Court.

Since 1993, Ruth has been a US Supreme Court Jurist viewed as part of the liberal wing. Ruth started out teaching civil procedure at Rutgers and Columbia University. While at Columbia University, Ginsburg wrote a casebook on sexual discrimination and founded the Women’s Rights Law Journal, focusing on women’s rights. Ginsburg spent most of her legal career arguing for gender equality and women’s rights. Ruth argued six cases of gender discrimination before the US Supreme Court and won five of them. Ginsburg was a volunteer for the ACLU in the 1970’s and in 1972 founded the Women’s Rights Project at the ACLU. President Carter appointed her to the US Court of Appeals for the D.C Circuit. In 1993, she became a US Supreme Court Jurist and was part of the liberal wing.
