Oprah Winfrey created her own talk show which she produced as Harpo Inc. for 25 years. By the mid 1990’s she focused on literature, self improvement, and mindfulness. Winfrey formed the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in 2008. Winfrey amassed the most wealth of any African American in the 20th century, and has been ranked the greatest Black Philanthropist in American history with her focus on uplifting through education opportunity. Oprah’s endorsement of, and influence in the 2008 presidential race potentially garnered Obama a million votes. Oprah has received the Presidential Medal of Honor, and several honorary doctorates.
